Freight and service types to compare

Every mode has different pricing rules, transit times, cargo requirements and operating conditions. These descriptions help prepare a quote request and do not mean that every lane is currently available.

01

Cross-border ecommerce parcels

For ecommerce parcels and recurring small shipments. Confirm destination, per-piece weight and dimensions, declaration, tracking, delivery, returns and marketplace requirements.

02

International express

Often used for documents, samples, parcels or time-sensitive cargo. Compare chargeable weight, service area, fuel and remote-area, residential or oversize conditions.

03

Dedicated cross-border service

A service organised for particular countries, regions or use cases. Confirm handover points, pricing stages, tracking, delivery standards and cargo restrictions.

04

Air freight

Suitable for batch cargo with tighter transit-time requirements. Options depend on airports, flights, capacity, aviation security and dangerous-goods rules.

05

Ocean freight

Full container load or less than container load is often used for heavy, bulky or planned shipments. Check equipment or volume, ports, sailing schedule, cut-offs and destination charges.

06

Rail freight

Used where current schedules, routes, border crossings and transfer conditions permit. Confirm terminals, loading method, schedule, transit documents and last-mile connections.

07

Road and truck freight

Used for drayage, cross-border road freight or regional delivery. Confirm vehicle type, handling, permits, waiting time, border transit and address restrictions.

08

Customs declaration and clearance support

A confirmed option may coordinate export declaration, import clearance and document preparation. Customs and other authorities retain final review and decision-making authority.

09

Warehousing services

Inbound, inventory handling, packing, labelling and outbound services may be assessed by location and requirement. Facility coverage, charges, operations and storage restrictions require confirmation.

10

Pickup and last-mile delivery

Pickup or destination delivery may be assessed by address. Confirm coverage, appointments, handling, residential or remote status, proof of delivery and redelivery rules.

11

Cash on delivery

Declare a need to collect payment for goods on delivery, distinct from freight collect. Coverage, collection amount and currency, refused deliveries and remittance arrangements require confirmation. Online quotes, collection, reconciliation and remittance are not yet connected.

02

Multimodal transport

When two or more modes are combined, each transfer point, service scope, charge, tracking capability and exception process should be stated.

03

Information needed for a meaningful comparison

Complete route, cargo and service information reduces repricing caused by unknown attributes, dimensions or handling conditions.

Route details

Provide origin and destination country/region, city and postal code, plus any airport, port or door-address requirement.

Cargo and declaration attributes

Provide the true cargo description, use, material, pieces, value, currency, origin and special attributes. Selecting general cargo does not complete a compliance review.

Weight, dimensions and packaging

Provide per-piece and total actual weight, length × width × height, units and packaging type. Special or out-of-gauge cargo also needs handling details.

Required service scope

State whether pickup, export declaration, import clearance, warehousing, delivery, insurance or declared-value coverage is needed and who will supply the documents.

04

How options are compared

Using submitted information and current business-system data, options are compared by charges, estimated transit time, cargo fit, service tier, inclusions and restrictions. A recommendation should identify its principal matching factors.

Charges

Check currency, total charge, available breakdown, chargeable weight, validity, and whether duties, taxes and destination charges are included.

Estimated transit time

Confirm the start and end events and whether document completion, inspection, customs waiting or uncontrolled delays are included.

Applicable conditions

Review route, cargo, per-piece limits, packaging, capacity or schedule, handover and any matters requiring human confirmation.

Service scope

Review the inclusions, exclusions and responsibility split for pickup, transport, declaration, clearance, warehousing and delivery.

05

Service and responsibility boundaries

AI Global Freight brings together logistics capabilities admitted through its business process and organises option information; it does not mean the platform performs every transport or handling event itself. The confirmed option, applicable rules and formal agreement determine the actual provider, scope, document responsibilities, exception handling and settlement basis.
